How Business Coaching Helps Small Business

Frequently Asked Questions About Small Business Coaching

Q. What can a Business Coach do for me?
A. Business Coaching helps your business realize its true potential by helping you identify problems and meet challenges. As an objective third party, a Business Coach acts as an experienced "sounding board" for your thoughts and ideas. Together you'll develop a vision and a plan to get you where you want to go. Please read on to learn more.

Q. When would I most need coaching?
A. Whenever you have a challenge or problem you cannot resolve alone.

If you are just starting a business

Why "go it alone?" Why not tap into a vast reserve of business experience to help you get off on the right track.

If your business is mature

Even the most successful business owners eventually reach a crossroads or a turning point. Has your business reached a plateau? Are unnecessary costs cannibalizing your profits? Is a new competitor stealing precious business? Do your customers understand the benefits of doing business with you? How can you increase sales with existing customers? Your coach will help you deal with your particular issues.
Q. How can a coach help me if s/he has never run my type of business?
A. Plumbers, pizza makers, tax accountants, hairdressers and candlestick makers may not seem to have much in common, however, managing costs, defining your market, finding new customers, motivating your workforce, dealing with problem employees... these are some of the many challenges that can threaten any type of business.

Your Small Business Coach helps you work through these challenges by asking the right questions and helping you pinpoint the key issues. They will inspire you to visualize your dreams and map a clear path to success.

Finally, your Coach is not an island. They leverage from the knowledge and experiences of everyone in The Small Business Company (The SBCo) network. They will also put you in touch with independent experts when appropriate.

Q. Will this coaching waste my time by trying to teach me complicated formulas for success or attending unproductive seminars?
A. The simple answer is "no." There are no ten-step programs or seven-level pyramids to learn about. No three-day seminars. We'll get right to your issues. Your coach helps you discover what your challenges are, prioritize them, and plan a direct course to achieve your goals.

We are dedicated to helping you get results quickly — not to preaching our own doctrine or "pushing" our products whether you need them or not.

Q. I am starting a new business and I'm too busy right now. Should I consider coaching when I get my business underway?
A. Sounds logical. But if you don't start off in the right direction you might never get your business going. There are so many factors which must be considered when you start a new business. Your coach makes sure you haven't left any stone unturned.

About four out of five U.S. businesses fail within their first five years. Many fail due to lack of planning or mismanagement. Your coach links you with an extensive base of knowledge and experience to help you achieve your true potential.

Q. What is so special about The Small Business Company (The SBCo) coaching program?
A. The SBCo is dedicated to one simple philosophy — to help small business owners achieve results. Our coaches focus solely on your agenda, not ours. You work with your coach to develop a vision, pinpoint your most urgent issues and choose the most direct course to success.

All SBCo coaches are specially recruited and fully trained by a world-renown expert, using methods which have been proven to yield results quickly.

Q. How can a coach have all the answers?
A. Your coach is there to ask questions, provide feedback and guide you through a process of discovery, not to pretend that they have all the answers. They help you determine your best course of action.

Your coach continuously networks with The SBCo management and other coaches to learn and share experiences, so they are as helpful as possible. And when you identify a task that requires specialized skills your coach will help you find someone who is qualified to help.

Q. Tell me more about The SBCo Coaching Method.
A.
Our coaches always follow these guidelines:
  • Ask permission to help — Our coaches are not "pushy salespersons," and never pry into information you do not wish to share. It is always your agenda.
  • Form adult-adult relationships — You are a co-equal partner. You will never be treated like a schoolchild.
  • Ask the right questions — Your coach asks insightful questions and uses active listening techniques until underlying issues are uncovered.
  • Act as a "sounding board" — Coaches provide valuable feedback on your ideas and help you clarify your thoughts.
  • Help you plan — Coaches can help you come up with a realistic action plan and act as your conscience for completing that plan.
  • Help you realize your potential — Coaches help you visualize your business as it could be, not as it is
Q. It all sounds good, but can I afford this now?
A. The SBCo offers a choice of surprisingly affordable plans depending on your needs. And there is no long contract term — you pay on a month to month basis and can cancel at any time. We do suggest that you stick with the plan for at least three months if possible.
